1. Sun Chlorella Quality and Integrity

At Sun Chlorella, the health and safety of our customers is most important to us. This is why we develop our products using only the best quality ingredients, and our government-approved manufacturing process undergoes rigorous inspections at every step. In a nutshell, we're all about product integrity.

2. Superfood in the Making

After transferring preserved strains of the Chlorella pyrenoidosa (SUN CHLORELLA strain) species to slant cultures, they are placed under artificial light and allowed to multiply under optimum temperature conditions.

3. Premium Chlorella Flask Culture

Chlorella propagated in slant cultures is transferred to flasks, which are placed under artificial light and supplied with air containing carbon dioxide. The chlorella cells divide while undergoing photosynthesis. Each time the chlorella in the liquid culture medium rises to a certain concentration, it is transferred to successively larger flasks where culturing continues.

4. Premium Chlorella Seed Culture

Chlorella grown indoors is moved outdoors, where it is allowed to culture in the natural environment. The chlorella continues propagating under the sunlight in circular concrete pools with agitators. As the concentration rises, the chlorella is moved to successively larger pools.

5. Premium Chlorella Main Culture

When seed cultures are ready, the chlorella is transferred to main culture pools, which are 36 meters in diameter. The agitators in these circular concrete pools constantly stir the cultures to ensure maximum exposure to sunlight. Culturing in these pools is carried out by carefully controlling the feed amount of culture medium (the nutrient for chlorella cells) in accordance with weather conditions. Water used in the culture pools originates in mountains over 3,000 meters high. In addition to its stable quality and amount, this water is free of contaminants and has low hardness.

6. Chlorella Superfood Filtering

Chlorella grown in the main culture pools is harvested after attaining the prescribed concentration. Once the foreign matter that has entered the pools during culturing is filtered out, the steps of dehydrating by centrifugal separators and washing are repeated. The chlorella is then filtered for the last time, and once we verify its purity, is finally ready to be concentrated.

7. Opening Chlorella Cell Wall

DYNO®-Mill -- the cell wall pulverization manufacturing method developed by Sun Chlorella - finally solved the problem of chlorella's poor digestibility. The tough fibrous cell wall worked like a barrier, preventing us from efficiently digesting the chlorella for its optimum health benefits. The DYNO®-Mill, a machine that physically pulverizes the rigid walls of chlorella cells, works by agitating the small and hard spheres inside its mill cylinder containing the chlorella liquid concentrate, causing a partial pressure difference to build in the fluid. The cell walls are broken when the chlorella cells instantly move from the high pressure to the low pressure area, rapidly expand, and finally burst.

8. Superfood Concentration and Sterilization

Chlorella contains an enzyme called chlorophyllase that produces pheophorbide, a substance which causes photohypersensitivity. This process deactivates chlorophyllase and sterilizes the chlorella by mixing steam into the chlorella concentrate to accomplish a quick high-temperature treatment.

9. Superfood Drying

In general, "spray-drying" is the method widely used to dry chlorella. Raw chlorella can be stabilized when dried, allowing it to be preserved for a long time. In this method the concentrated chlorella solution is sprayed into a hot air stream, forming small droplets that dry instantly. The result is dried chlorella in powder form, having the appearance of vivid green seaweed or powdered green tea. Powdered chlorella is very stable, and if preserved under suitable conditions will suffer a relatively minimum decline in quality even after several years.

10. Chlorella Superfood Tableting

Once raw powder is pulverized, it becomes Sun Chlorella A. Sun Chlorella "A" is manufactured in accordance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards applied to medicine production in order to produce safe and reliable products our customers can use with confidence. In complying with the GMP, we evaluate and conduct inspections on visual appearance and weight; we meticulously test for contaminants and bacteria consistently through manufacturing. Rigorous quality control is ensured by our own standards for important chlorella components, which are stricter than government standards. Instead of using chemicals to process our tablets and granules, we use press machines and other other natural methods. We double-inspect our products both in-house and at public institutions, and once our products pass these inspections, they are then tightly sealed in our lightproof packages to become Sun Chlorella "A".

As evidenced above, the health and safety of our customers is our #1 goal - a goal we believe that can only be achieved through Product Integrity.
